About Ingrid

A life-long resident, born and raised in Glendale, Ingrid Gunnell was elected to the Glendale USD Board of Education Trustee Area B in 2022. She has brought herself to the dais with the perspectives she discovered as a proud GUSD alumna, a GUSD parent, and a 25-year teacher and teacher adviser. As an incumbent school board member, Ingrid has championed many education issues by advocating for marginalized communities: Black, Indigenous, Chicano, AAPI, LGBTIQ+, and students with special needs. Ingrid has deliberately worked to expand programs to staunchly support English learners and dual language immersion students.

Before she took a critical role as a school board member, she promoted Armenian Genocide Education, working with education partners to bring professional development to educators and resolutions to educator unions in support of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and justice for the people of Artsakh. Ingrid is long-time advocate for inclusive teaching practices and greater representation of historically under-represented communities. As part of the coalition of Black in Glendale, she helped GUSD unanimously pass a resolution supporting the Black Lives Matter in Schools curriculum in 2020, as well as the Safe Zone Resolution in 2017 to ensure our immigrant families and students remained safe on campus. For much of the past decade, she has advocated at the local, state, and national levels for Armenian Genocide Education to be taught in public schools.

Ingrid is committed to continuing her leadership on the GUSD Board, working collaboratively with employees and hearing from students and parents, in order to ensure every student gets the education they deserve. A vote for Ingrid is a vote for creating efficient, clear, sustainable, and common sense decision-making in GUSD.
